What I think about Licensing Regime

I just read "Petition for the immediate withdrawal of the Licensing Regime". Up to now, 151 blogs/website had been listed, staging the #freemyinternet black out.

When I saw the link was shared in Facebook, I wanted to find out more about it. I heard about this new 'Licensing Regime' on the TV news but do not know the details. I support freedom of speech. Freedom to read whatever we want, wherever we want. What is the point of reading controlled news or even 'edited' information? It will be a step backwards, to be like certain countries that actually control their news or history.

When I continue to read the petition page, I felt some parts were written with a little bit of biasing and tries to change the reader mindset. I became hesitant in signing the petition. I will prefer the page to be written as general as possible and let one decide whether he agree to sign the petition or not. But well, if I am the one starting the petition, I guess I will want people to support my act.

"Even though MDA said that blogs do not fall under the licensing scheme, this is not reflected in the wording of the legislation. It leaves the door open for blogs or any other site to be forced to license in the future without any change in the law." http://www.petitions24.com

I do agree with the above statement that if the law is written in the way it is (refer to the web or wherever you can find), bloggers are not exactly being protected. The law can actually used against any website easily when someone find them an eyesore. haha...

"Authorities have said that online news sites must also be subjected to the same kind of accountability and responsibility as "offline" news media. Authorities added that the new rules are not a clamp-down, as websites can continue as per normal because they are subjected to the same content standards as before.

Only 10 sites come under the new regime -- they mainly belong to the mainstream media." - CNA, 6 June 2013

Only time will tell if this 10 will increase rapidly over the next few months/years...

Love . Marathon (II)

...

After the run, we went to McDonald's for breakfast since there isn't much option left. Where can we find a place that opens 24hours and reachable by foot near Esplanade? Anyway, as I mentioned in previous post, we left around 5+ and reached around 6+.

You can imagine how tired I am. But thankfully my friend let me to reach home first! I think they understand that as for the first time, I did not wait for them to discuss and I 'insisted' of reaching home first. haha...

A few hours later, I woke up and prepare myself to head to the west. The place of my friend's wedding church. Since my wallet, shoes and barang barang is with my friend after the wedding dinner (Thanks WQ!), I actually went out with minimal items and simple clothes. haha... But of course, I am still wearing a presentable outfit!

My first time to a friend's church wedding. I think I went to my neighbour's when I was young. I can't remember how she looks like now! haha.... It is simple and sweet. =)

May both my friends had a blissful marriage and live happily forever... =)

Love . Marathon

It's my pleasure and honour to attend wedding of my friends.
But never had I ever thought I will do it so crazily~!!!! haha

Last Friday, after being 'enrolled' into the 'Ten Brothers' gang, I was invited to attend the wedding of my 'brother'. Initially, I was asked to be the emcee and was agreed that I will skip the morning session so that I could have ample rest for the night marathon. But some changes to the arrangement, and I became part of the brothers of the wedding and will not be needed as an emcee. Sad? A little since I will not be able to complete my #10 soon. But I respect the fact that the one took over is from the wedding singing group. Professional, of course. Hence, it turn out to be an tiring but eventful day.

Morning session ended around afternoon, about 2+pm. I was one of the drivers that day as well. It is not an easy job for someone who is lacking of sleep that week. I had been working till late night for 2 consecutive days and could only sleep at 3+am prior to the wedding day. Testing my body limit, huh?! haha. Due to lack of time, I drove to and fro, to send my other 'brothers' and groom's parent to the hotel. But thankfully, I got some time to nap before the event began at 6+, 7pm.

I was stoning whenever I sat at the table. haha. I managed to go off after the newly wed went around to take photos with the guests. I needed to run off since these people try to stop me from going for Sundown Marathon and wanted me to stay on to drink with them! haha... Not that I don't want to stay, I don't want to 'fly aeroplane' since I hate people doing it, especially I am the one who get people to run this time round.

Sundown Marathon began at 11.30pm. My first 21Km marathon. I must say that I was not in the right condition to run. I could feel my heart is having a burden for me to run. In the end, I walked for more than 11Km. It was a great experience! Completing with two of my running Kakis together! Timing is no longer important. We completed within our 4h target anyway!

The run ended with a breakfast and by the time I reached home, it is 6+am! Imagine that! haha...
