After my last day at my previous company, a group of us went Penang that night! Cool huh?! Special thanks to Edward who allow us to stay in his place, be our chauffeur and tour guide! Amazing guy!
Penang is famous for their Laksa, but unfortunately, i don't like the prawn paste that was added. I only know after that that i can request not to put. Too late! haha... but nevertheless, i love their noodle. Nice noodle! Other than the laksa, we had many other food too! AMAZING & CHEAP FOOD! On our first morning, we had Dim Sum and man, it was definitely affordable. Now i know why there was such a long queue at the place, Restoran Chaw Choon. I have no complaints on their dim sum. The variety is there and my friend fell in love with the egg tarts. The food there is so good that we decided to have it on our last day before our flights! But since we had a long night, we dabao (takeaway) and have it at home! =)
We also visited the famous temples and the Toy Museum! YEAH! BUT! Unfortunately, the museum was a letdown. The toys are dusty and the museum are poorly organised. Lighting focused on the top level and bottom are too dark. The guy at the reception mention that they are going to move to another location, much larger space with better variety... price? it will increase a little from the current RM10 (Malaysian) & RM20 (Foreigner). Honestly, i do hope they consider a better way to showcase teh priceless toys that cross different generations! Many fond memories returned after looking at the toys. Angie is definitely one of the happier ones! haha
We are lucky that we are able to see street arts (murals) along the street of George Town. They were done by Ernest Zacharevic for George Town Arts Festival.
The art combines wall painting with real physical object. It is my first time seeing this kind of art. It amused me and definitely, the crowd puller. It is not hard to find them along Lebuh Armenian, Lebuh Cannon, Lebuh Ah Quee etc.
Just follow the crowd! haha.... The most famous one that you can see online EVERYWHERE is the art that show two kids on the bicycle. Simple, yet heartwarming. The scene also had a old wall beside it. Amazing combination, no wonder this was the MOST POPULAR one. If you are planning to go Penang, check them out!
Whether a trip is fun or boring, the place may not be the only factor...
Having great & fun loving company, any boring place may turn up to be extremely fun!
I was organising some of my photos and realised that i had not been uploading photos for the two trip in December. My Genting & Taiwan trip. Hence, i spent the last few days editing & uploading photos from my Genting Trip. On 11th Dec '10, i went to Genting with my closer friends. In a single day, we went to French Village, Japanese Village, Strawberry Farm and, of course... Genting Highland.
Since the other two unique villages are situated at the other hill/mountain, we need to take a cab to travel to the other side. The uncle gave and estimation of amount of time we will spent at the places and the whole mini trip. I guess we did exceed his estimation and he do look rather unhappy... haha... Nevermind that we miss the temple visit because of that... What matters most is... WE ENJOYED OURSELVES!
First stop: The French Village - Colmar Tropicale
Upon stepping down from the cab, we could not hide our excitement anymore. Our tiredness faded off immediately... The castle-like buildings surrounding the place is beautiful. The village is situated in the middle of a beautiful castle. The interior & exterior of the castle are astonishingly beautiful. Maybe, its my first time visit to this kind of place, i was totally captivated by its beauty! The village is similiar to 'Rapunzel'! It doesn't look like anywhere in Malaysia. Inspiration in photography began to pour in once we step on the 'bridge' towards the entrance!
Next stop: Japanese Village
The 'first Teahouse in a tropical forest', what they called themselves, is well-situated up a steep slope. Apart from the teahouse, there are two small huts that rent out Japanese traditional costumes (Kimono) for guests to wear and take picture. I wanted to try it but we can't wait for the people to leave... Taxi uncle will be furious if i did that! Anyway, we managed to take some photos in one of the two huts of the Village.
Third stop: Strawberry Farm
Frankly speaking, the farm is rather small and looks plain. Hence, i am wondering why the three of us can enjoy ourselves and i am so mesmerised by the strawberries 'shining' under the sun. I am happy with the photos i had taken at the farm. I like most of the photos taken there. It may be the colors, it maybe be the sun! I guess this is the breaking point for the uncle. His smile wears off after that... By the way, we spent a little time walking through the shops and past one small mushroom farm!
Last stop: Genting Highland
Back to Genting, we had a short rest after we checked-in the hotel room. Its true that there are nothing much in Genting since we are not going to the amusement park. Hence, we walked around the shopping center, play in the arcade and have dinner in a Viet restaurant, Vietnam House. The food and service have LOTS OF ROOM for improvement. Oh, forget to mention my first visit to the casino. It's not as grand as i thought it will be, but still looking good! Nope, we did not 'participate' in the 'activities' there. Doraemon was there with us in Genting to celebrate their XXth anniversary! The main characters are so cute! =)
Why do i feel a little sad when typing this post? Am i thinking too much? Nevermind, i just hope that we three can enjoy our times together again, after clearing the misunderstanding... *praying hard*
p/s: more photos will be uploaded to here soon...
It been more than a year since i last step onto the causeway. No, i am not talking about Causeway Point, but the actual causeway that link Singapore with Malaysia. This time round, i get to cross the bridge to the new custom of Malaysia. First Impression? Not impressive at all. The road was so jammed that we could take a nap on the bus... We spent almost an hour sitting on the bus. That is freaking long.
The new custom is cleaner, air-conditioned... more stations but same speed. We still have to slowly wait for our turn, but at least its more cooling. Took a photo at the exit of the custom, but was stopped by security to delete away. To be honest, the photo only consist of me, Dz and the background of mini waterfall. Nothing about the custom. Hmm... strict? Maybe.
We are simply hungry after the long wait. After changing our S$ to Ringit, we went to a new place to have our 'brunch', Mr Baoz. It is situated level 3 of JB City Square.
We ordered six different flavours of Baos, including Curry Chicken flavour. But when we received our orders, i think it was not what we ordered, anyway, we were too hungry to remember what is our order. Hence, we began eating... The menu was really attractive to me... The variety was special.. Imagine Baos having so many kind of fillings and toppings... it looks more like Donuts but taste smooth... Can't wait to visit them a second time. Other than Baoz, Dz had local white coffee, i had a Peppermint Chocolaz, while Ermei had Strawberry Green Tea. I simply love my drinks~!
We moved off to the first destination... Danga City Mall. Ermei recommend that place as it is rather new and give us an impression of a great place to shop. To be honest, it wasn't. I don't blame Ermei as who will not get that impression if they just judge the place with their website... Most of the tenants are the property managment's own shop. Most of the shops have no one taking care of the shops, some did not even had any renovations. No crowd in the mall. At least, the transport from Custom to the mall is FREE. Dz and i did get ourselves a top each (Buy 1 get 1 free) to make the trip not totally fruitless.
After leaving Danga Mall, we head to Taman Sentosa to shop, sing & eat... I got myself some socks and briefs... *shy* at The Store... Taman Sentosa's KTV is cheap... we spent around RM25 for 3 person... singing for 3-4 hours? I lost count le... We also recorded some videos during our KTV-ing... Despite going out of tune etc, we enjoyed alot... and that is what matters most... isn't it? its been a long time since i last went there... so it do brings back some memories... walking around Taman Sentosa or JB... finding food.....
Talking about food, we 'Da Bao (take-away) some famous roasted pork/duck/char shew ate at the Famous food hawker... Thanks to Ermei, he recommended us the delicious dishes... Other than those we brought... we also ordered Beggar Chicken & Fried Oyster Omelette there. All taste delicious... Can't forget the strong herb taste of the chicken & duck... How can we forget the gigantic Sugercane? The meal make us BLOATED... sh*t! our tummy all came out... except for Dz...
The Beggar Chicken
Roasted Delicacies
After dinner, we head to Danga Bay... Its our first time there. Walked down the beach, we came to see a stretch of restaurants before the Bay Leaf Convention Center. Its pretty nice... The building looks like a GIGANTIC Bay leaf... inside, it was having Orchid & Bonsai Exhibition... Overall, it looked cool, but i do not fancy the exhibits from other Asian countries... it lack of life... i prefer Singapore's National Orchid Garden. Next to the convention center, there is a BIG stage. But it was still early then, no show was put up. We walked along another stretch of food center & shopping village. Man, it was so long... Our legs are tired after walking through it... Other than that, there are also a Pasar Malam style theme park, plant market... Its a nice experience, but definitely will not go there again due to inaccessiblity....
