开心食验室 Food Laboratory: Oreo Balls

I actually like to try out simple recipe every now and then during special occasions (usually birthdays & farewells). This recipe (or link) was posted on my Facebook's wall by a friend who wanted me to make it for her after I made her a Milo Panna Cotta.

The recipe for the Panna Cotta is suitable for Lactose Intolerant people, but the Oreo balls is not. Hence, I made some changes to the recipe and added strawberry flavour to the sweet delights. I am glad the desserts were so well-received. Hence, I decided to share it... =) Hope you enjoy it! =)

Strawberry Oreo Balls

Ingredients

Ingredients:

1 package Oreo cookies (9x3, 264.6g)
1 pack dark chocolate (Calbury's Old Gold Dark Chocolate - 70% Cocoa)
3 tbsp of skimmed milk
2-3 tsp of strawberry flavouring
1-2 tsp of almond bits (optional)

Method:
1. Leave the chocolate bar at room temperature.
2. Place Oreo Cookies in a bag/blender and smash/blend until it is the consistency of dirt.
3. Mixed the strawberry flavouring with the milk.
4. Add the milk slowly into the smashed cookies.
5. Roll the mixture into balls.
4. Chopped the chocolate into smaller pieces, and place it in a small bowl. This will allow every part of the chocolate to melt consistently.
4. Boil a pot of water. Off the fire. Place the bowl of chocolate over the hot water for a short while then stir when it begin to melt. This will prevent the chocolate from overheated and dried.
(Note: Chocolate that are 'burnt' or too dry will not be able to use anymore.)
5. Cover balls in chocolate then leave to set in the fridge.
