I went there twice as a helper for my friend, Teck. The first visit lasted about a day, while the second lasted about half a day. I get to see different parts & view of this school. It seems to be a rather big school. Or was it that our primary school days are over long ago? Nowadays, the facilities was unbelieveable.
CZPS (as Chong Zheng is commonly known as), consist of a number of facilities that i don't even get to see in my Secondary school days. They have a foyer that can be used for dance practices, a small cosy corner where students can hang around reading or even using PC. It can be openly accessed. A piano at the assembly foyer allows the students to play piano at their own time allowing them to developed their interest in music. Speaking about interest, i am particularly interested in their music lab where students learned to use musical keyboard & composing music. Isn't it great? Let me remind you, we are talking about primary school here.
Like my secondary school, each class get to designed their own classrooms to have a sense of belonging and for character development. When i moved around from classes to classes, i saw a lot of great ideas and good decorations. The more memorable one was the fire-crackers which were made to move upwards upon opening the door. That scared the wits out of me. *laugh* Impressive, i must say. Though not all classes are impressive, generally all these decorations speak well of each class. I simply can get a vague impression on how the class are behaving and their characters. Upper primary are obviously more active in this stuff. Some decorations or themed includes orchids (bred by students), plants... to homely-feel corners...
It is very obvious that the school is taking the students development seriously. A lot of CCAs and programs are drawn up each year. Imagine an educational tour to Perth, Australia? Yes, they came back last night from the tour. Ahh... how i wished that i could go back to my primary school days. Students are lively, noisy and enthusiastic about their in-house Sports Day. Assisting their individual houses to decorate their own tent. I can imagine how fun it would be.
How can we forget the bunch of behind-the-scene crews for this 'show'? The teachers, staff, CCPE (my friend, Teck), principal, vice-principal... Though i did not get to see the Principal or VP, i saw the enthusiasm in the teachers when they are preparing the upcoming SYF for their respective CCAs. They are having fun with students, taking every single detail seriously. Those teachers i came into contact with are friendly, active and responsible in their job. Salutes to them.
In short, i spent two enriching off days at the school. Chong Zheng will definitely be a big school in the near future, IF the school isn't one yet. It reignite my passion for teaching and respect for my past teachers. Oh ya, i even learned get to use the piano to learn 'Ke Ren Lai' (Guests Come). Though not smooth but its fun and i did it using two hands, ok? *laugh* In short, i would recommend this school to whoever living in Tampines area and has a child enrolling to primary educations next year.
